I don't know, is it? Most of my flying has been in the UK so I know the standard overhead join, which is a form of crosswind join (technically). I don't know how much a pure crosswind join is used.

I agree with Tim; AFAIK the crosswind join is just joining at the (modified) crosswind leg of a standard overhead join (i.e. overhead the runway). Joining on the standard circuit crosswind position creates a high collision risk with departing and go-around traffic.

I've heard it used reasonable frequently when pilots approach from the dead side.
Seems like there's a few people doing it.

Personally I'm not that fussed just observed it wasn't on the list and it is definitely a join I've been shown and observed others using it.

Some comments on the circuit feature:
- I cannot select an overhead join for Dutch airports, ATC asks sometimes for this joining.
- the standard downwind join in NL iis midfield 90 degrees, this is not selectable.

We may introduce other join types in a future version but our goal certainly isn't to list all possible joins. The tool is just designed to help pilots with orientation. Certainly if we show a 45 degree join that will serve as sufficient orientation for a 90 degree join, I would hope.
What sort of overhead join do the Dutch sometimes ask for? Is there a diagram somewhere?
The shaded area on the dead side indicates the dead side.

The meaning behind my comment was that the 'standard' overhead join was not selectable for Dutch (and ...) airports. It's already in SD available, so why restrict this to certain airports or countries?
